9 Player Rule
2. If a team begins with 9 players, the number 10 batting slot will be declared an out.
3. If a team begins with 9 players, and a legal substitute arrives, the player may be inserted into the number 10 batting slot.
4. If a team begins with 10, 11 or 12 players, they can continue play with one (1) designated out in the lineup provided a player is injured or becomes sick or is disqualified and they do not have a substitute available. Only if a player is ejected, leaving a team short, will a game be forfeited.
5. At no time can a team play with less than 9 players or more than one designated out in the line-up. Example: A team begins with 11 players and may drop to 10 at any time, but can not drop to 9 players.
6. If the player leaving the game is a base runner, the runner is declared out.
7. Whenever an absent player is due to bat, an out is declared.
8. When a team plays shorthanded because a player leaves the game, the player cannot return to the lineup.
9. If there is an eligible substitute at the game, or if an eligible substitute arrives before the game is over, the substitute must enter the game. He cannot pinch hit or pinch run, but must enter the game in the shorthanded players position.
